DrillEdge

DrillEdge - bridging real-time data and knowledge
DrillEdge is developed to assist drilling engineers in lowering risk, increasing rate of penetration and reducing non-productive time while drilling. We help operators to re-use knowledge in order to diagnose and avoid costly drilling problems before they escalate

Leveraging your best people across your organisation
DrillEdge software uses real-time data from drilling operations to index and automatically recall human experience, such as lessons learned, best practices, and situational experience across rigs and assets.

By using real-time data streams from ongoing operations, DrillEdge continuously searches for experience from past operations and presents relevant information, automatically, when needed. This unique capability expands the reach of your best people without increasing their workload.

Case radar
Through the DrillEdge case-radar, your drilling team is alerted automatically and instantaneously, as the software identifies a historical case with similar parameters as the current drilling situation. A small circle appears on the radar, and your team can monitor the situation as the historical case increases or decreases in similarity and severity to the current situation. When clicking on the case, information about the historical case is presented. You can see what was done in the previous situation, lessons learned from the situation is presented, together with advice, learnings and best practices.

Verifying the cases
When a historical case appears on the case-radar, your experts can verify the similarity of this case as all the parameters and measurements are available in the database. This ensures that your experts can gain confidence in the software, and the parameters it uses to classify a case.

Implementing DrillEdge
DrillEdge implementation is easy and seamless. It takes advantage of already existing infrastructure and data-standards, and work on several different platforms.

Case-based reasoning
DrillEdge is constructed on the principle of case-based reasoning, a method building on the simple premise that similar problems have similar solutions. By continuously monitoring the real-time data-stream from an ongoing operation, DrillEdge searches in real-time for similar cases (situations) from relevant wells drilled in the past. If the current operation looks like a past problematic case, this case is displayed to the engineer along with lessons learned, advice and best practice.

The advice provided through DrillEdge is based on the operator's own experience, and the system allows engineers to enter new cases if new problems occur. The learning captured by such an event is thus shared through the organisation – between rigs, shifts and generations.

In addition to its unique experience recall functionality, DrillEdge has a user-friendly data viewer, and automated data interpretation methods that assist the drilling engineer in monitoring the status of the operation. This provides the engineer with a single application for monitoring real-time data and providing relevant experience resources, such as lessons learned and best practice.
