 | Human beings often interpret new situations and solve problems by being reminded of a previous similar situation they experienced. That past experience is then adapted and reused in the new situation. A physician, for example, when examining a patient in his office, is reminded of a patient with similar symptoms he treated earlier. He uses the diagnosis and treatment of the previous patient to prescribe treatment for the new patient. Case-based reasoning (CBR) technology works the same way.
